What will I need to bring to the school?

Clothing/gear/footwear for all types of weather. Much of the school will be outside, rain or shine!

Do I need to make plans for meals and lodging?

We start at 8 am each morning. Morning snacks and lunches will be provided for both days, but breakfast is on your own. We finish around 4 pm each day so you can grab dinner on your way own after class. There are many hotels and other lodging options in Petersburg.

What approach or method of grazing does this school teach?

 We partner with experts from Virginia Cooperative Extension/Virginia Tech/Virginia State University, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, partner organizations, and experienced producers to provide instruction for this school. Our focus is on teaching the fundamentals of plant growth and grazing management, soils management, and flexible grazing system design to enable you to work with each clients’ individual farm and grazing style. Additionally, we teach the integration of soil, water, and wildlife conservation as an important component of the grazing system.
